Meet Shawna V.
RECE
Shawna Vander Velden is a Community Services Program Leader who has 12 years of experience dedicated to the healthy development of infants and youth in the KW community. Shawna is well known for the development, implementation and management of high-quality family services and programs including mental health, child development and pedagogy. As a registered ECE, Shawna is a member in good standing with the College of Early Childhood Educators and is a Certified Infant Massage Instructor with the International Association of Infant Massage.
My Story
I have been working in the field of Early Childhood Education for 14 years. I have gained experience in the fore front of childcare centres, running my home childcare centre, and working with families and children resource services. I have gained knowledge, and grew my practice in each one of these settings.

I am passionate about people and their parenting journey. I love working through struggles that there may be, as well as celebrating the successes. My strengths lie in child development, mental health, play, and community resources. My goal is to ensure that each caregiver feels empowered in their journey. I truly believe it takes a village, and that parenting cannot be done alone.

Spending time with my family going on adventures outside and learning about the world around us is also very important to me. I have taken up a passion in nature, and plants and I love to get my hands dirty, and never shy away from messy fun!
